10 Warning Signs You’re Not Drinking Enough Water


Are you chronically dehydrated? If you’re like most people, the answer is probably yes. In fact, doctors suggest as many as 75 percent of Americans are not drinking enough water.

This probably isn’t the first time you’ve heard that it’s important to drink plenty of water, but you may not be aware of just how many health problems are caused by dehydration. Here are ten of the most critical warning signs that you need to increase your water intake.

1. Cotton Mouth

When your tongue feels thick and heavy and you have a sticky feeling in your mouth, it’s a good indication that you’re not drinking enough water. If you notice after the first few sips that your body starts making its own saliva again, you’ve just staved off the first signs of dehydration.

2. Skin Problems

Excessively dry skin, chapped lips, and dandruff are all indications of serious dehydration. When you have too little water available in your body you also sweat less. This leads to clogged pores, cysts, and acne breakouts.
